POSITION AND SIZE OF AGOGO - SUB - DISTRICT
Agogo sub - district is one of the six sub - district structures of the Asante Akim North Municipal Assembly of the Ashanti Region.
The Agogo sub - district covers a geographical area of 650 square kilometers which is approximately 45% of the total geographical area of 1361 square kilometer covered by the entre municipal.
Agogo sub - district shares her southern boundary with Kwahu North in the Eastern Region of Ghana. Western boundary is Kruofa and Adomfe in the Asante Akim South District Eastern is Kumawu and Afram District in the Ashanti. North is Hwidiem.
The Agogo sub - district has a total population of 39,293, 20% of whom are children under ten years old. Eleven years to forty five years is 40%, 30% between forty - six to sixty years and 10% of who are above sixty years.
The total population of Asante Akim North Municipal is 110,573. The population of the Agogo urban council is 35.6% of the total population of the Akim North Municipal Assembly.
Agogo town as a sub - district capital is a development town located about thirty kilometers from Konongo, the Municipal Capital off the Kumasi - Accra trunk road, the road from Konongo to Agogo is a we" maintained one in the district to be travelled within thirty minutes.
The town has a population of 28,000 inhabitants that is 63.5% of the whole municipal.
The largest river in Agogo is River Afram. The other are Kowire, Supinin, Atifi, Fifire, Aboabour, Abodisu, Awatife, Onvern, Agyan, Barna, Bontere, Penfie, Ntiryaw, Asekasu and others.
