Agogo Hospital staff arrested for fraud

Posted on August 14, 2010 at 7:53 PM

Police at Agogo in the Asante-Akim North are holding a staff of the local Presby Hospital and an accomplice for alleged fraud.

Optical Assistant, Yaw Frimpong and the unidentified female duped several people of various sums of money under the pretext of securing protocol admission for them at the Agogo Nurses Training College.

They had posed as a tutor and a doctor respectively to convince their victims who paid between GH¢ 800 and 900.

Frimpong went into hiding after collecting the money.

The vigilance of college authorities led to his arrest following complaints from the victims from various parts of the country.

Some of the victims who could not hide their frustration say their future now hangs in the balance after waiting several months without admission.

Principal of the College, Agartha Ekuban, is unhappy some unscrupulous persons are abusing protocol admission arrangements to enrich themselves.

She wants the system cancelled because of its attendant unbearable pressure on heads of higher health training institutions.

Ms. Ekuban says the school in collaboration with the security agencies will ensure those who abuse the system are brought to book.

Meanwhile, Yaw Frimpong was remanded into police custody to re-appear on 13th of this month when he appeared before a Juaso Circuit Court.

Please watch out so that you don't become a victim of such a fraudulent activity. Don't let any one deceive you; if your ward does not have the required grades to be admitted officially.
